In a thrilling twist of casting fate, Linda Cardellini is set to take on a pivotal role alongside the likes of Jason Bateman and David Harbour in HBO’s forthcoming dark comedy limited series titled “DTF St. Louis,” as confirmed by industry insiders.
HBO, in a show of confidence, greenlit the series for a seven-episode run last November. The project’s genesis can be traced back to a 2022 announcement featuring both Harbour and Pedro Pascal as initial stars and executive producers. The initial narrative, which drew inspiration from a James Lasdun article in The New Yorker—entitled “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation”—has undergone a fascinating transformation. Now, the series spins an entirely original story, dissociating from the original article and moving forward sans Pascal.
Delving deeper into the plot, the overarching theme revolves around a tangled love triangle involving three adults grappling with the bittersweet nuances of middle age, culminating in a dramatic twist with one character’s unfortunate demise. In this intricate dance of relationships, Cardellini embodies the character of Carol, whose journey promises to enthrall viewers.
Cardellini, a celebrated figure in television, boasts three Emmy nominations—one for her captivating performance in “Mad Men” and two nods for her role in “Dead to Me.” Her television repertoire also includes memorable appearances in “Freaks and Geeks,” “ER,” and “Bloodline.” Currently, she lends her vocal talents to the animated DC series “Creature Commandos” and is set to star in Netflix’s dark comedy “No Good Deed,” a reunion with her “Dead to Me” creator Liz Feldman. In film, Cardellini is recognized for her performances in the live-action “Scooby-Doo” series, alongside critically acclaimed films like “Brokeback Mountain” and “The Founder.” Recently, she graced audiences in the Hulu film “Nutcrackers,” sharing the screen with Ben Stiller, and has completed filming on “Way of the Warrior Kid” for Apple.
Represented by CAA, Shelter PR, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman, Cardellini is undoubtedly poised for another thrilling chapter in her illustrious career.
Behind the scenes, Steven Conrad takes the helm as writer, showrunner, executive producer, and director. The esteemed duo of Harbour and Bateman will also serve as executive producers, with Bateman bringing his expertise through Aggregate Films. A formidable lineup of additional executive producers includes Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch for Escape Artists, as well as Molly Allen, Bruce Terris, Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films, Kristina Wenson for Bravo Axolotl, and MGM Television, ensuring a powerhouse production team ready to deliver a captivating series.
