At Sushila’s school, cricket has become a cherished ritual, all thanks to the enthusiasm of their teacher, Ishwarlal Meena. “When I began teaching here in 2017, I saw the need for engaging activities. Without them, students would simply stay home,” he recalls, sharing the genesis of a sporting revolution within the school walls.
Initially, Mr. Meena led by example, forming teams with fellow educators and inviting students to compete. The infectious energy soon captivated everyone—cricket fever swept through the school, drawing in students from every corner.
Despite lacking formal coaching experience, Mr. Meena’s commitment to the cause shines bright. He turns to the vast resource of YouTube, meticulously absorbing videos to glean new techniques to impart to his budding athletes. Recognizing the raw talent brimming within his students, he created a social media presence to exhibit their strides in cricket, which sparked interest and engagement from a wider audience. As the followers increased, so did the encouragement—feedback streamed in, offering technical insights and fostering a sense of community around their budding cricket aspirations.
