DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Imagine yourself as a pivotal member of the COO Education Sector.
- Engage deeply in comprehensive research, meticulous data collection, astute policy analysis, and environmental scanning of the evolving legislative landscape—all intricately linked to First Nation learners, languages, and cultural narratives throughout the lifelong educational journey.
- Foster collaboration with and provide support to the Leadership Committee on Languages, honing in on priority areas crucial to fortifying First Nation languages across Ontario.
- Craft essential resources as required.
- Nurture and sustain partnerships with government ministries, First Nation communities, and relevant organizations, ensuring an effective and dynamic flow of communication and dialogue amongst all stakeholders.
- Dive into collaborative efforts in working groups and task teams, contributing valuable policy and program recommendations.
- Design and implement comprehensive reporting mechanisms capable of measuring the success of past and present programs, strategies, and initiatives while guiding continual enhancement.
- Formulate work plans that address key issues related to languages and the lifelong learning continuum.
- Prepare vital documents including communiques, memos, briefing notes, detailed reports, and literature reviews.
- Skillfully facilitate meetings, partake in gatherings, and diligently record notes.
- Assist in the planning and smooth execution of various meetings and engagement events.
- Assimilate information and produce well-crafted written communications.
- Undertake additional duties associated with the Education Sector as assigned.
RELEVANT SKILLS:
- Post-secondary education that aligns with the role.
- Proven experience relevant to the specified field of work.
- In-depth knowledge of First Nation languages, traditions, cultures, and values, alongside an understanding of the historical relationship between First Nations and the Crown.
- Familiarity with First Nation, federal, and provincial education and language programming and policies.
- Exceptional communication skills that encompass active listening, articulate writing, and verbal fluency.
- Capacity to effectively work both independently and collaboratively within a team to accomplish designated tasks and projects.
- Proven experience in data collection and analysis.
- Preference for candidates who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
