As the season dawns, Somerset kickstarts their pursuit of the illustrious Rothesay County Championship title at home against Worcestershire. Soon after, they’ll set their sights on away confrontations with Sussex and Hampshire, culminating in an electrifying encounter with reigning champions, Surrey.
The Rothesay County Championship will spring into action on Friday, April 4th, unfurling a rich tapestry of competition that spans eight thrilling rounds throughout April and May. As summer blooms, the excitement will escalate, featuring Kookaburra balls in play during rounds at the end of June and July, all leading to a climactic finish with three rounds in September to wrap up the domestic cricketing summer.
ROTHESAY COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP – DIVISION ONE: The elite lineup includes Somerset, Durham, Essex, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Surrey, Sussex, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire.
FORMAT: Each county is set to engage in a fierce duel, totaling 14 matches—seven on home turf and seven as guests. The team that claims the top position at the season’s end earns the coveted champion’s crown, while the bottom two face the grim specter of relegation to Division Two.
