Innovation Blooms: Aylesbury Students Shine at Green Tech Challenge
In a spirited display of creativity and sustainable ingenuity, bright young minds from Aylesbury’s schools and colleges took center stage, captivating judges with visionary eco-friendly projects, including a remarkable initiative involving a waste-to-resource woodchipper.
For the third consecutive year, competitors from five secondary institutions and the Buckinghamshire College Group unleashed their innovative prowess in a thrilling Dragons Den-style competition, where the focus was unwaveringly placed on green technology.
The panel of judges, a collective of discerning experts, found themselves spellbound as the students from Buckinghamshire College Group proposed an ingenious carpentry project—acquiring a woodchipper designed to transform timber waste into usable wood products. This initiative aims to donate wood shavings and chippings to local residents, farms, stables, landowners, and animal charities, serving purposes ranging from cozy bedding for pets and livestock to enriching mulch for garden beds and landscaping endeavors.
Each competing school was thoughtfully paired with a local business mentor, creating a dynamic learning environment that equipped students with industry insights and practical guidance throughout the exhilarating competition.
